I'm stuck on the issue of running a MAF adapter flange or a MAF adapter housing. Examples below:

^Housing adapter

I'm leaning towards the flange since its cheaper and would most likely be easier to install.

what are you trying to do here? Mount a MAF in an aftermarket location? New plumbing? What? It will help us advise you to make the right choice

DIY cold air intake, filter in the fender well. PVC as piping and many hose clamps and hose connectors.

in that case I wouldnt spend any money, just drill a hole in the PVC and mount the damn thing in it. Piece of wood? Something simple you could RTV and screw together. Flange would be too fancy

What are you doing this project for, a few extra HP? The only thing I would be doing is making a snorkel so I could beat it off road and through rivers. Maybe a lift and some lights

Just more intake noise.

If you want more intake noise, just cut the bottom out of the airbox. Cobbling together a poverty CAI for this car is going to look stupid and offer the same net gain as half of your airbox missing.

"Free" is the best price, go get cutting.

so pull the airbox off and put a cone on the end of the pipe. Free + cost of the filter, done. No need to route it to the fender. That is just crazy

if you want cold air leave the stock airbox then.

take that money you'd save by not buying a MAF adapter and put it into the "interesting car fund"

Need more info. A pic might help. Where is the existing MAF sensor? It should be pretty much right before or after the throttle blade. Any ducting you do before that to get it over to the fender shouldn't interfere with the OE sensor location. It's one thing to install a temp sensor in a drilled hole in an elbow somewhere, but MAF readings are a little more critical and the location of that sensor is very important.

warm and and cold air will make the same noise, and the cold air isn't going to be any more powerful.
